Some things, e.g. relationships, trust and reputation, are easy to break but more difficult to put back together.
Buy bananas – enough for one per group.
Make banana surgery kits.
Divide the girls into small groups of two or three, and give each group a banana, cutting board and plastic knife.
Ask each group to cut the banana into four or five equal sized pieces.
Distribute banana surgery kits comprised of safety pins, string, sticky tape, tooth picks, rubber bands and tell each group that they have to reassemble the banana.
Set a time limit and at the end of the period discuss everyone’s efforts. Do the girls think that they have learnt any lessons that could be applied to everyday life from working on the bananas?
To make it more humorous, surgery props such as masks and gloves could also be used if available.
