Duration:

20 minutes

You’ll need:

  • A kitchen roll tube
  • Two circles of baking paper big enough to cover the ends of the tube
  • Sellotape
  • Two tablespoons of uncooked rice
  • A piece of aluminium foil that is longer than your kitchen roll tube
  • A piece of wrapping paper the same length as your kitchen roll tube (optional- you could just to paint, colour in or decoupage your rainmaker instead!)

Instructions

1.

Cover one end of your kitchen roll tube with one piece of the baking paper and sellotape it in place around the sides – you may need another person to tape or hold the paper as it can be a little tricky!

2.

Take your piece of fold and roll it together, not too thinly. Then scrunch it slightly.  This is what will help make your rain noise. If you want toyou could wrap the foil around a wooden spoon to create a spiral.

3.

Carefully pour your rice into the cardboard tube.  Make sure you keep it standing up!

4.

Cover the other end of your kitchen roll tube with one piece of the baking paper and sellotape it in place around the sides.

5.

Wrap your rainmaker and secure it in place with sellotape.

6.

Now carefully turn your rainmaker up and down.  It should sound like it is raining!
