Once upon a time

This warm up game is an easy introduction to developing stories and ideas. The trick to make it work well is to keep the pace going so that people say the first thing that they think of!

Ask girls to sit in a large circle facing each other. Explain that it is ‘story time’ but that there isn’t a story yet! Start the story ‘Once upon a time…’ and invite the person to your left to finish the sentence.

3.

Each group member should then in turn add their own sentence – these can be as ridiculous and as creative as possible! Keep the plot developing by going around the circle as many times as you wish.

4.

When everyone has contributed close the activity in true fairy-tale tradition by ending ‘and they all lived happily ever after…!’.
