Need to know:
BBC Newsround have created a helpful resource for PRIDE education. This might be a useful way to start the session, or if you would like to learn more ahead of the activity: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/52872693
If you would like more resources about how to talk to children about wider LGBTQ topics, we recommend this website https://www.welcomingschools.org/resources/challenging-questions/
1.
PRIDE is all about being proud of who you are. Ask the girls to share something they are proud of about themselves.
2.
If the girls are struggling to come up with answers, you can use the following prompts:
- Have you ever been proud of a piece of work you have completed in school?
- Have you ever been proud of a time you handled a difficult situation?
- Have you ever been proud of learning a new skill?
- Have you ever been proud of helping someone?
3.
PRIDE is about people coming together in love and friendship. Ask the girls to name their best friend and share what they love most about their friend.
4.
Finally, PRIDE month is about teaching tolerance. It does not matter who you love, everyone should be accepted for who they are.
